how do I change a Chandelier Light to a swag style Hanging Light?
We bought this chandelier style light that is supposed to be mounted on the ceiling to an electrical outlet box, but there isn’t an outlet box. Can we turn this light into a Swag Light without rewiring it?
From what I can see on google, a swag light is a pulg and cord light with a chain going from the outlet to the light that hangs on a hook.
If there is no wire in the ceiling you need to get power and a box there to support the light.
I am sure you could wire this to worrk some how but it probally wouldn’t be legal, or safe. Best bet is to call an electrician, If there is an unfinished attic above the room than it would be easy to do, but if it is a 1st floor of a 2 floor home this will become difficult.
Like I said you could make it happen but not with out it looking ugly and being unsafe
